After waiting approximately 3-5 months for a decision for your initial application and equally waiting an additional 3-5 months for a decision on your appeal for reconsideration, depending on where you live and what hearing office you end being scheduled with will decide how long your wait time is for a hearing before an administrative law judge (ALJ).

The Social Security Administration provides data on the average wait time from the appeal request date for an ALJ hearing. This allows claimants to estimate the amount of time they may have to wait for a hearing to be held.

Most of our client’s cases are in the Washington, D.C. or Baltimore, Maryland Office of Disability Adjudication and Review (ODAR) hearing offices. Where you live determines what ODAR office your hearing will be held.

The current average wait time in Washington, D.C. or Baltimore is approximately twenty (20) months. Average Wait Time Until Hearing Reports can be found here. These numbers are subject to change depending on when you file your request for an ALJ Hearing.

Contact our lawyers if you have been denied disability benefits and want representation at your ALJ hearing, 410-415-9333. There are no fees unless we win your case.
